Valeska Rein is a visual artist based in Brandenburg whose practice moves between painting, drawing and performance. Raised in an artistic family, she took up painting and dance in parallel from an early age — two languages that continue to shape her work. She studied Fine Art / Painting at weißensee kunsthochschule berlin, where she completed her Meisterschülerin studies under Prof. Friederike Feldmann in 2015, and deepened her practice during a study residency at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London.

Already in her Meisterschülerin year, Rein began developing performances that combine painting with dance and stage space; exploring and testing the boundaries between genres is a central drive of her work. Her works and performances have been shown in Germany and abroad, including at Kreuzberg Pavillon, Kunsthaus Dahlem and Theaterforum Kreuzberg (Berlin), TAM Art Space in Veliko Tarnovo (Bulgaria), Teatre Auditori Narcís Masferrer (Spain), museum FLUXUS+ Potsdam and TAC Eindhoven (Netherlands); in 2015 she presented the solo exhibition SHOWTIME at Centre Bagatelle, Berlin. As a dancer and performer she appeared in the audiovisual production KISTVAEN (MFO / Roly Porter) at Berlin Atonal, Unsound Festival Kraków and Sonic Acts Amsterdam.

Alongside painting, Rein trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance — among others in the Bildungsjahr Tanz of Seneca Intensiv and the SLIDE training programme of Flying Steps Academy — and completed stage-dance training at DIE ETAGE Berlin. In 2017 she co-founded the dance and performance duo KAVA KAVA with Karoline Dettmann and was a member of the collective taintedPulpo. Valeska Rein lives and works in Brandenburg.
